Acronis advises how to effectively back up

For proper and effective protection of data stored on home computers and laptops, it is necessary to create the backup. Often, however, this process may seem too complicated. Acronis presents some useful tips for consumers to help in the successful backup.

Summer is a time when you often reach for a camera. Photos of holidays, family gatherings, or events at the barbecue with friends – are stored in digital format on PCs and laptops. However, we can easily lose them. Accidental deletion, sudden damage or hardware failure or theft – are just a few examples to suggest that to ensure adequate security of our memories.

Experts from Acronis depict the seven tips on how to effectively backup and recover digital data such as photos, music, videos and documents, and even whole operating system:

1. Back up regularly. Backups of data should be performed regularly. To conserve space, after the initial full backup of the system, further copies should be performed as a so-called. incremental backups. Then they are kept only those files that have been modified or added since the implementation of the full backup.

2. Use an external drive: backups should be stored on removable media or removable hard drives. If the backup is stored on another hard disk partition, then, in case of failure, will also be lost.

3. Store the backup online. Double data security is to store them in an additional backup, remote online location (online backup). For example, theft of equipment, fire or flood, copies of the data are in a secure, remote location (encrypted), so they are not subject to the loss.

4. Check for data recovery. Anyone who had already experienced the loss of valuable data, know what to do in case of failure and how to proceed to recover the data. It is therefore recommended to conduct a trial recovery of files and system state.

5. Enter the automatic control of your backups. Secured backups should be after every update automatically checked and approved by the applicable software. This ensures that the data can be restored correctly.

6. Reduce the backup process. Creating a full backup of the whole system can run much faster if, before the start of the process data that are no longer needed, will be removed. For this purpose, it is recommended to empty the Trash and delete temporary files. Using the right software can also be excluded from the backup process, certain formats, such as large audio or video.

7. Take a backup before installing. Before installing new applications, updates, or drivers, it is recommended to backup. Then, unwanted changes that may occur after installation, they can be withdrawn without any problems.
